Blaine Parker, a Hallsville graduate, is having a strong freshman season with East Texas Baptist University. Parker, a right-handed pitcher, helped the Tigers shut out UT Tyler for 4.2 innings in a seven-inning game to upset the No. 12 team in the nation, 4-2.
In the game, he allowed only four hits and pitched a tough first inning with runners on second and third and two outs. During the third inning, UT Tyler had a runner on third with only one out but did not score.
Parker’s current record sits at 3-1, where he holds an ERA of .98. His strikeouts to date are recorded as 23. ETBU will return to action todsy in a three-game series with Concordia University in Marshall.
